Ginny is an award-winning professional dancer who danced with the Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) and the Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) during her dance career. Having started her Ballet training at the Singapore Ballet Academy (SBA), Ginny went on to pursue vocational training at the internationally-renowned Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and the New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD) from 2005 to 2007, and was a recipient of the NZSD's Scholarship in 2007. Ginny then returned to Singapore after graduation season to begin her dance career at the Singapore Dance Theatre for their end of year Swan Lake production season.
Meet Ginny
Ginny has performed in a multitude of principal, soloist and and demi-soloist roles during her tenure as a professional dancer. Notable works include Marius Petipa's Raymonda, Russell Kerr's Swan Lake, George Balanchine’s Serenade and Concerto Barocco, Jorma Elo's Glow-Stop, Edwaard Liang’s As Above, So Below, Greg Horsman’s Sleeping Beauty, Ethan Stiefel and Johan Kobborg’s Giselle, Goh Choo San’s Double Contrasts and Fives, Andrew Simmons’ Song in the Dark and Of Days, Qi Huan’s No Limits and many more. Ginny has also guest performed with the world-renowned Canadian contemporary dance company La La La Human Steps in 2008. These exclusive performance experiences translate into Ginny’s teaching, where building strong performance abilities and strong technical foundations are essential.
Ginny's experience in teaching includes NZSD Scholar's Programme, Chilton Ballet Academy, Chilton Dance Centre, Wellington Dance & Performing Arts Academy, Auckland Dance Academy and Singapore Ballet Academy over the years. Ginny has extensively coached younger students for entry into renowned vocational dance schools to pursue professional training, of which include the English National Ballet School, the Royal Ballet School, Queensland Ballet School, Australian Ballet School, and NZSD. Most recently, she was also invited by the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Dance Department) as an external assessor, as well as a guest teacher at the School of the Arts Singapore.
As a dance educator, Ginny places great emphasis on safety and conditioning, especially for pointe work training. Her extensive experience coaching students have culminated in excellent RAD examination results and achievements in professional ballet competitions. Her keen attention to details and depth of knowledge in training, performance and self-management allows her to bring students to the next level in their individual learning journeys.
